GASTRONOMY & WINES
If your idea of a holiday is something that goes hand in hand with good food and wine, you are in the right place.
Bardineto is renowned for its mushrooms : you will be able to try them, cooked with care and know-how of our own cuisine. You will also have an opportunity to go looking for mushrooms, accompanied by a local connoisseur, not to mention the convenience of buying them at the local shops that sell all sorts-freshly picked, desiccated and preserved in olive oil.
There is also a village dairy where milk is processed to make cheese, butter and other products , which are sold at a shop on the premises. Visitors are welcome if they want to go and see certain phases in the functioning of the dairy plant. www.frascheri.it
Our region is rich in chestnut woods yielding great quantities of what used to be called " poor man's bread" : the chestnut.
It is precisely for this reason a co-operative society came into being and a "slow-food" organization has been set up in defence of the chestnut, both with the aim of rediscovering this fruit. Very special products made from the chestnut are : flour, jam and sweets. www.slowfood.it
Olive oil is among the various things that are the pride and joy of the Ligurian Riviera just around the corner. You can't even think of leaving Liguria without taking a small provision of our most prestigious olive oil with you. Then there are also the very highly rated gastronomic specialities that go only too well with our olive oil. www.frantoiomagnone.com
Liguria can also boast of its production of quality wines, above all the white ones; Vermentino, Pigato, Dolceacqua, Rossese, Lumassina, Ormeasco : these particular wines are produced and marketed by several producers that are certainly very competent if not too well-known. www.liguriafoods.it
If you are wine enthusiasts and fond of visiting wine cellars, you can get to the famous vineyards in and around Alba and Asti in the region of Piedmont , only an hour's drive from Bardineto.
